Colosseum in Rome is the largest amphitheatre in the world. We visited this in 2007 during a 5-day trip to Rome. The Colosseum is one of the greatest works of the Romans and is situated next to Forum Romanum. Construction began in 70 AD and the amphitheatre was completed 10 years later. During the day the area around the Colosseum is very crowded and there are many salesmen who try to sell souvenirs for too much money. If police shows up, then most of them suddenly grab their goods and run away. Of course we visited the Roman Colosseum during opening hours to see it inside, but later in the evening we came back. Just sitting on a hill, drink something and wait until it gets dark which is a good moment to take photos. This photo was taken early evening, just after closing time and most tourists are gone. Some nice restaurants can be found in the streets east of Colosseum like Via di San Giovani in Laterano.
