This week not a tourist attraction as weekly travel photo, but a photo of a local bus in Malta. In 2008 we were in Malta and stayed in Sliema. But for sightseeing Valletta and Mdina were most interesting. And when we got out at night then Paceville was the place to be. Walking to Paceville was possible, but preferably we used public transport to get around at Malta. The Maltese bus looks old-fashioned, but it has something special. There were 508 of these buses and none of them was exactly the same. Interesting is that you had to pull a rope under the ceiling when you want to get out at the next stop. Nowadays you rarely will see these buses on the streets because Arriva replaced them by modern buses in 2011. Early 2014 Arriva stopped and Transport Malta became the new operator on the island. Unfortunately still with the modern buses, because the antique buses are sold to Sudan.
