We left Sweden and drove to Rovaniemi in Finland, which was our first planned stop. But unfortunately it was a rainy day so we couldn’t go into the city for sightseeing. Because of that we directly continued our trip to Santa Park and Santa Claus Village at the Arctic Circle.
Santa Park is located directly north of Rovaniemi. The Magic Sleigh Ride, Elves’ Workshop and Santa’s Office. It are only few of the attractions people can visit. We visited Santa Park shortly, but personally I think it’s an attraction that mainly is interesting for young children.
Few kilometres to the east we went to Santa Claus Village, which is located at the Arctic Circle. That place was worthwhile to visit despite that it is very commercial. Visit some shops, buy souvenirs and make some photos at the Arctic Circle itself.
In the northern part of Finland we saw the first deers along the roads. Also the roads changed quickly and became a kind of rollercoaster. Nonetheless the scenery was wonderful, certainly near lake Inari.
We crossed the Norwegian border near Karasjok and visited Sapmi Park. The visit to Sapmi Park was one of the highlights of the trip to the North Cape. In Sapmi Park you get information about the Sapmi culture and history in an entertaining way. Also nice was to see a movie about Aurora Borealis, the northern light. A can recommend a visit to this tourist attraction to everyone.
