More than 2 weeks travelling through Scandinavia and we almost left Norway, but not before we visited Oslo. Unfortunately our time was limited to only half a day, but that should be enough to see the highlights of Oslo.
We started at the most famous building of Oslo, the Royal Palace. Here we were just in time to witness changing the guard.
From Royal Palace we walked to the red brick city hall of Oslo and the harbor where Aker Brygge is located. Aker Brygge is an interesting mix of shops, restaurants and offices. Certainly worthwhile to visit and if you are looking for good restaurants, then you certainly will find it here.
One of the highlights of Oslo that we finally visited was Akershus Fortress. The castle, fortifications and cannons are interesting to see. Furthermore you have a nice view over the harbor of Oslo from the walls.
After our short visit to Oslo we continued our round trip and drove in the direction of Gothenburg that we visited the day after. Also in Gothenburg we only had half a day. Coincidentally we visited Gothenburg during Gothenburg Culture Festival. This festival is one of Sweden’s biggest city festivals. Theater, orchestra, carnival, local bands and delicacies.
In the harbor we enjoyed a procession of sailing ships and catamarans.
