Ubud is the artistic and cultural centre of Bali and for me the place in Bali that I enjoyed most. We spend one full day in this special place and started the day with a cooking lesson at Casa Luna Cooking School where we learned the cooking techniques and secrets of Balinese food. Personally the activity at Bali that I liked most.
In the afternoon we shortly visited Pura Taman Saraswati which is located near Casa Luna. Unfortunately we couldn’t enter this temple, but the façade and large pond looked nice.
After that we visited the Sacred Monkey Forest of Ubud. This forest with temples is located south of Ubud. It is a nice place to visit and to walk around, but be cautious for the monkeys that try to grab bags and gleaming objects.
Finally we ended our day at Bebek Bengil Restaurant where we had a drink and pie, while we had a wonderful view over some paddy fields around Ubud.
Besides these sights Ubud and environment also are the place to go if you are interested in Balinese crafts & arts. Wood carvings, paintings, carved stone products and colorful Balinese dresses. We visited several places where locals make those Balinese crafts & arts.
